What are Nike MAXSIGHTTM lenses?

Nike MAXSIGHTTM is a revolutionary tinted soft contact lens that provides excellent visual performance benefits for athletes and recreational wearers that helps eliminate image distortion and improves field of vision. Nike MAXSIGHTTM is available in two different sport-specific tints that come in both corrective and non-corrective versions.

How does it exactly work?

The patented Light Architecture selectively filters specific wavelengths of light to visually enhance key elements in sport, such as a ball, filtering most of the blue light and manipulating the remaining colors of the visible spectrum to enhance critical details in the sporting environment. These features of the Nike MAXSIGHTTM lens combine to provide visual benefits to athletes such as an exceptional view of contours on a given field of play, reduced sun glare and the ability to track fast-moving game activity under variable light conditions.

What is the difference between the two lens colors?

Athletes and recreational wearers can select between amber and grey-green lenses, depending on their sport needs. Amber is superior for fast-moving ball sports in variable light conditions (such as baseball, soccer and tennis), while the grey-green lens is ideal for sports played in bright sunlight where glare and comfort are primary concerns, (such as golf, running and rugby).

How long do the lenses last?
The Nike MAXSIGHTTM lenses are daily wear lenses that need to be replaced monthly. Most athletes will wear them selectively and for short durations during this period of time.

How are they different from other tinted contact lenses?

The tint on the Nike MAXSIGHTTM lens covers the entire surface of the lens. In addition, the specific tints on the Nike MAXSIGHTTM  lenses were specifically formulated to block certain wavelengths of light. Most other tinted lenses serve no function and are strictly for cosmetic purposes. Such cosmetic tints usually cover a much smaller surface area of the lens as a way to isolate and alter the perceived color of the wearer’s iris. Currently, Nike MAXSIGHTTM  is the only commercially available sport-tinted contact lens on the market.

Is there any health benefit for your eyes by wearing MAXSIGHTTM lenses?

Nike MAXSIGHTTM filters out greater than 95% of the potentially harmful UVA and UVB light from entering the eye. A large body of clinical research exists supporting the healthful benefits of limiting entrance of these types of radiation into the ocular system. Nike MAXSIGHTTM does not replace sunglasses for full protection of the eye and the surrounding ocular tissue.
